Motor Industry is the epitome of all weird acts in music. Before this I used to think that Buckethead was it; but no longer until I came upon MI. There is no official record as to where MI come from, when MI was formed, and who is/are the personnel behind MI. Nobody has any idea whether MI is a band or a duo or a solo act. Nobody can determine the gender of the person behind MI. MI are not attached to any recording label but releases its LPs in its own label, Determine. MI don't have any website or myspace page. Their mp3 are such a rare occurence that obtaining one is like striking a chest of gold in Petaling Street. The only information that I am able to unearth about MI is that they have already released 2 longplayer in the early part of this year alone. The two releases are Teardrop and Xylophone Exhibit Suite. In the first album, the CD was wrapped in a yellow oil paper with the wording "The alien has landed" printed across the back cover. It was a torturous journey through the noise-scape of MI. The mind-blowing, eardrum-shredding opener entitled Dustmites was simply amazing (and deafening too). 20 minutes of pure white noise - breathtaking. The second LP is quite a clever concept album. What MI has done is take one song sample and then destroy it to an unrecognizable level - stretching the whole song structure, adding in distortion, wah wah, delay, all sorts of electrical effects, to create a new composition. What I have with me is the sixth track from the second LP and you will never be able to guess how the original composition sounded like (unless you don't have any friends and doesn't mind spending the rest of your life trying to reconstruct the whole song). I don't know what am I supposed to say about the song. Uh wait... no, it's not a song, it's a composition. This is noise; the most out-there arm of the avant-garde artistic movement.

The reason why I have included this very old image of UFO is because it seems that the band has a fetish towards aliens and UFOs. Even the second LP as I mentioned above has the wording "The alien has landed" printed on each page of the CD sleeve. Now, if only there is someone who can establish contact with Motor Industry.
