Another band in my list of 'most unlikely
choice' favorite band, Acid Mothers Temple. Formed by guitarist Makoto
Kawabata to continue and expand his musical exploration by bringing
together a host of like-minded musicians to create a 'trippy
psychedelic freak-outs inspired by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Krautrock,
and 70's progressive hard rock'. (Quoted from allmusicguide) Acid
Mothers Temple & the Melting Paraiso Underground Freak Out, as its
full name goes, was founded in 1996 as a "soul collective"; whatever
that is. This collective has been extremely prolific, having released
over 35(!) studio releases in only one decade, and yet not even a
single of their releases have failed to excite and thrill listeners,
fans, and critics alike. I on the other hand can only drool everytime
Acid Mothers Temple come out with a new release as their albums are
non-existent in Malaysia. I have only mail order as an option but I
think it would have cost more than what I am prepared to spend.
Speaking of which, on June 19 2007 Acid Mothers Temple and the Melting
Paraiso Underground Freak Out has released yet another highly rated LP
entitled
Crystal Rainbow Pyramid Under the Sun on the Important label.
Usually they would have naked/topless women on
the cover while two third of it would have curious designs like this
one on the cover. With Music Magic now history, I can only hope that
one fine day the good folks at Rock Corner or Tower Records will want
to import Acid Mothers Temple's CD to Malaysia.
