All along this week I have been spending lots of it listening to my collection of old, indie records like
The Fall's
Hex Enduction Hour,
Pavement's
Slanted & Enchanted and
Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, and
Sonic Youth's
Daydream Nation. Then I came upon this 1975 Cleveland-based band
Pere Ubu, named after one of the characters from Alfred Jarry's controversial 1898 play, Ubu Roi.
Brilliant stuff.
