The Exotic Assortment issue #5
Continuing my obsession towards weird/unusual music is the Animal Collective. Based in the New York city, the band was formed in 2000, along with the release of their debut Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished. A quote from allmusicguide about their debut: "It was the first of a flurry of captivating, occasionally frustrating
releases exploring the fringes and intersecting boundaries of folk,
noise rock, ambient drone, twisted psychedelia, and, ultimately, pure
melody".
What I have posted along here is one of the song taken from their third studio album Sung Tongs which was released in May 2004. The song is entitled Leaf House. The only other time I feel captivated when listening to a song is when I listened to Black Moth Super Rainbow; another equally captivating band that plays out-there psychedelia.
A different note: Magnet (a.k.a. Even Johanssen) has released the third album called The Simple Life. Which is then a big 'damn it' to me because I have yet to find his second album.
